Hi, I’m Jill.

I’m a writer, lawyer and public sector professional helping legal, professional services and public sector organisations communicate clearly and confidently.

My background in law, the public sector and writing means I can quickly grasp complex subjects and make them easier for other people to understand.

Why I started

Clear & Credible.

I started Clear & Credible for two reasons.

First, because too many people are excluded by information they cannot easily understand. Important information should be clear, accessible and written with the reader in mind.

Second, because many good organisations miss opportunities when their expertise is hidden behind unclear, generic or forgettable content.

Clear communication matters - whether you are helping a vulnerable resident, advising a client, or trying to earn trust online.

That belief sits at the heart of everything I do.

My background.

I’m a qualified lawyer and have worked in local government legal services across all areas of law, with particular experience in governance, licensing and housing.

That work taught me how important clear communication can be.

When people are dealing with stressful, unfamiliar or high-stakes situations, they need information they can understand quickly. They do not need jargon, waffle or unnecessary complexity.

Working in the public sector taught me how to adapt messages for different audiences - from members of the public, to officers, councillors, stakeholders and senior decision-makers.

It also gave me a strong respect for accuracy, accountability and deadlines.

Why writing matters to me.

Writing has always come naturally to me.

I’ve always been interested in how the right words can explain an idea, build trust, persuade fairly, or help someone feel more confident about what happens next.

Good writing gives clarity. It creates momentum. It helps people make decisions.

For organisations it can also be the difference between being overlooked and being remembered.

That’s why I built a business around it.

Who I work with.

I regularly support:

  • Law firms and legal businesses

  • Councils and public bodies

  • Charities and third sector organisations

  • Housing and community organisations

  • Professional services firms

  • Marketing agencies needing trusted freelance support

If your work is complex, regulated or hard to explain, I can help.

What I bring to clients.

Clients usually come to me when they need someone who can do two things:

  1. Understand the subject matter; and

  2. Explain it clearly.

That might mean writing website copy for a law firm, thought leadership for a consultancy, content for a housing organisation, or specialist freelance support for an agency.

I combine strong writing skills with professional judgement, curiosity, and a calm, reliable approach.

I also keep a close eye on how search and digital marketing are changing, so content is not only clear and credible, but fit for today’s online environment too.

How I work.

I ask the right questions, keep things straightforward, and deliver work you can use.

No jargon. No drama. No endless back-and-forth,

Just clear, thoughtful content and a professional service.

Let’s talk.

If you need clear writing and a dependable pair of hands, I’d be happy to help.
